When the light comes through just perfectly and film maintains those highlights 👌🏻

Love that! But wanna know what I don’t love? Grocery shopping. Seriously why does it have to be a weekly thing? Why do we eat so much cereal? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Is it just me? I just can’t stand all those isles. I never meander. I always have a list with a mission. Because it’s in, get the goods, and get out!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What about you? Is grocery shopping one of those chores you don’t mind? How do you cope!? 😂

Portraits are.... photos are .... why do we take them? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For me portraits are powerful. A good portrait reflects back to us our strength because no matter our circumstances we are endowed with an inner strength. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Photos are the visual documentation of my life. They are bias and true and beautiful. It is my hope to leave behind this legacy in a way that helps my children and their children understand where they come from. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I take them, on film, because the process embodies how I feel or want to feel in my life: present, slow, and mindful. And because when I document in this way my memory of the moments is stronger. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I like to sleep with my blinds open. It drives my husband crazy. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I love to wake up with the sun. I love feeling the day coming. As the sun rises I love to feel as the light shifts from blue to yellow. It’s a gentle and peaceful way to wake up. It makes me feel grateful for my life and all the things in it. And while it’s a fleeting moment because then the busy sets in, it’s a beautiful way to start the day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So I hope as you start this week - begin this new beginning - that you can give yourself a little more grace and that the day can move a little slower. Even if that means you give yourself a moment to recognize and feel present. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because as Anne Shirley says, “Today is a new day!”

Can I just debunk that I have it all together?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you’ve ever thought that I have it all figured out I just want to put that myth to rest! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because I don’t! Who does? And frankly how boring! I like a little mess going on - it’s more interesting. I learn more from my failures than I do the wins. And typically it’s the 100 failures that happen before someone wins that I’m more fascinated by. Isn’t that how it is for everyone!? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because truly done is better than perfect and knowing there’s more to learn and conquer keeps life from ever being boring. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So don’t be afraid to put your imperfect self out there! Your imperfection is exactly what this imperfect person needs.

Don't you feel boxed in sometimes?
